Get your triathlon kit right!
With the London triathlon now only 2 weeks away, most of your training should be done and you should be making plans for the big day. Personally I’m looking forward to competing on closed roads around our impressive capital city.
The event packs with numbers have been sent out and the wave start times are on the website: www.thelondontriathlon.co.uk .
Triathlon Transitions
With about four weeks to go to the London Triathlon, I’m sure that all of your training for the three disciplines is progressing well. Hopefully the swimming is getting easier, the cycling faster and the running stronger. But what about the fourth and fifth disciplines -the dreaded transitions where you change from swim to bike and bike to run? These are both areas that can either cost you or save you a lot of time. With a little practise and organisation you can be out of transition a long time before those who enter transition with you.
Mud, sweat and dislocated toes as renewables industry gets running for renewable world
Runners from across the Renewable Energy Industry have been putting themselves through their paces over the last few months at events up and down the country and beyond, including the crazy off road Mud Runner Oblivion, Edinburgh Marathon and Brussels Half Marathon to raise money for Renewable World.
Improving the sustainability of a centuries old technology
In the village of Sunaula Bazaar, women used to spend hours hauling water up steep tracks from the source below, but not anymore. Thanks to the installation of a hydraulic ramp pump which uses the energy of falling water to pump it to a higher level than the source, since May this year this remote hillside community in Nepal have had access to a constant source of water for domestic use as well as irrigation for 70 households.

Renewables Industry Runs Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for Renewable World
More than 50 runners from the Renewable Energy Industry are set to take their places this weekend at the start line of the fastest marathon in the UK to raise money to help bring the benefits of renewable energy to some of the poorest people in the world through the running4renewables initiative.
Individuals and teams from companies across the industry including Natural Power, Scottish Renewables and Smartest Energy are amongst those who will be participating in the Edinburgh Marathon, Half Marathon or Hairy Haggis relay which take place on Sunday 22nd May.
Forging a unique relationship
The renewable energy industry is filled with dedicated and passionate individuals with a strong commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of power generation and great expertise in stakeholder engagement.
Enter the London Triathlon and Bring Power to the People!
During the last few months the staff at Renewable World have been to some far flung places including Nicaragua and Nepal. Their work in areas such as these enables communities in often remote part of the country to generate power from whatever natural resources are available to them. The income from the various fundraising events that Renewable World organises, such as the London Triathlon goes a long way to funding some of these schemes. Below are some examples of what your fundraising could provide:
Triathlon training basics
It finally looks like Spring has arrived (or is it another false alarm?). With the London Triathlon about four and a half months away, now is the time to start your training (if you haven’t already). This blog is intended for all those doing the triathlon on behalf of Renewable World. I’m sure there will be a wide range of abilities and different sporting experiences so I will try and include something for everyone.
Jordanie, world champions and a dramatic journey
True to form for this trip so far, this has been another day to remember! Our last day in Monkey point involved an exciting football match, and a VERY scary boat ride!
But before I tell you about those - I had more time to interview Carla yesterday and she definitely made it clear how the simple addition of this solar fridge, lighting and nebuliser will make a huge difference to the lives of the Monkey Point Community.
