Who we are
Our Origins
Renewable World, which was formally known as the Koru Foundation, is a UK based charity set up by individuals from the renewable industry in 2007 to act as the link between the European renewable energy sector and energy poor communities who are most vulnerable to climate change.
Our work
We install community based renewable energy projects in poor countries which enable people to cook food, pump clean water, power homes, schools and health centres and run small businesses in a sustainable way. Click here to find out more about our projects.
Our Team
Renewable World is managed by a small secretariat based in Brighton. The charity has a team of four people working on strategic development, project implementation and research, fundraising, and marketing and communications. Click here to meet the team.
Our Structure
We are guided by a board of Trustees and a Steering Group drawn from the renewable energy industry and academic and development sectors who oversee the management and direction of the organsation.
We also have a number of Ambassadors from the renewable energy industry who champion Renewable World within the industry and introduce people to our work.
Our Supporters
Renewable World is grateful to a group of corporate supporters from the renewable energy industry that become Friends of the organisation, an provide us with unrestricted funding for a period of three years. Current Friends include DONG Energy, Natural Power SKM and SSE Renewables.
We have also been lucky to gain support for our projects from leading companies from the renewable energy industry including RES, Hochtief, International Power and WPD, as well as individuals through fundraising and regular donations.
With your help we could make a real difference to many more communities, for a list of ways in which you can support the Koru Foundation click here.
